Official Association Documents

Table of Contents

2011 Revised and Adopted Bylaws include five official Association documents.

They are:

Bylaws

These Bylaws govern all operations of the Association.

Policy and Procedure Guidelines (PPG)

The PPG is established to specifically regulate the conduct of business in meetings. PPGs are designed to provide stability from meeting to meeting to ensure that the organization itself operates in a consistent manner. To adopt or amend a PPG clause requires previous notice and a 2/3 vote of the Board of Directors or with or without notice a vote of the majority of the entire membership of the voting body.

Standing Rules (SR)

The SR provides administrative details that do not need to be inserted into the bylaws and do not relate to the conduct of business at meetings. Requires a majority vote of the Board of Directors to adopt. To amend an SR takes either a majority vote with previous notice or without notice a 2/3 vote or a vote of majority of the entire membership of the voting body.

Articles of Incorporation (AOI) – this shall remain a permanent document

The AOI provides the seal of the Corporation and is a fundamental document to the establishment of the California Association of the Deaf. It is available as a Read-Only document on the Association’s website. A copy of the AOI may be requested by contacting the Chair of the History Preservation Standing Committee or the Association’s Secretary.

Memorandum of Understanding with California Home for the Adult Deaf (CHAD)

The MOU between the Association and CHAD establishes that CAD is the property owner and CHAD is the lessee. The full terms and conditions of the relationship between these two organizations is outlined in the MOU. The MOU is available as a read-only document on the Association’s website. A copy of the MOU may be obtained by contacted either the Association’s Secretary or the Executive Director of CHAD. This document may only be modified/approved by the Board of Directors.
